Kamasi Washington Live at Warsaw Stodoła 11th March 2019

Was a real treat to see Kamasi Washington last Monday.

Especially liked 'Truth'; 'Street Fighter Mas', and above all else, the encore, 'Re Run'.

And, of course, it's not everyday you get to see a bassist like Miles Mosley:

Yeah, all round, a great night's entertainment with top-class musicians, and the wonderfully subtle voice of Patrice Quinn.

Kotek's Pizza Box

How time flies, forgot I'd taken these shots, from about nine months ago, of Kotek getting comfortable in a pizza box near the sink:

For good measure, Kotek can be seen lying comfortably in the computer, swivel chair below:

Visiting Kleks

My wife went to visit Kleks the other day and he didn't look in bad condition. Thankfully, he looked well, as he's been quite poorly recently.

Two Concerts Last Week (Laibach and Morcheeba)

After seeing Caravan on Saturday (23rd February), two days after, I saw Slovene/Slovenian avant-garde band, Laibach, at Warsaw Progresja.

Have known of Laibach for years, but only recently have I given them a sustained listening (obviously liking what I've heard).

Really enjoyed the first part of the show, like many people of my age, I guess, I was taken back to my childhood with Laibach's rendition of 'The Sound of Music'.

Also liked the more industrial/gothic-type stuff after the interval.

Really wish I'd seen Laibach a few times over the years, rather than just once at such a late date in time.

Two days later, I was at it again seeing Morcheeba for the first time (again at the Progresja), although I did see Skye Edwards on her own at Warsaw Palladium about 12 years ago.

Can still recall first coming across Morcheeba on British TV in the mid-1990s or so, think they were doing 'Trigger Hippie' (I think???) on one of the live music shows on Saturday night (Jools Holland or The White Room).

Anyway, Morcheeba served up a musical treat with 'The Sea' and 'Blood Like Lemonade' being the two standout tracks for me.

Of course, it was great to hear the band doing David Bowie's 'Let's Dance' too.

There you go, three concerts in six days, glad to be giving my ears a rest now.
