Warsaw Jazz Jamboree 2020

Caught two of the days of the Warsaw Jazz Jamboree at the Stodoła on the 22nd and 24th October.

Really enjoyed The Milo Ensemble on the 22nd, this kind of ethnic/world music, nicely washed down with a couple of pints of beer, offered the perfect respite to the strange situation that we all find ourselves in now.

A wonderful array of talented musicians taking well-earned applause at the end of a fantastic show:

Was disappointed to see that new government restrictions stopped people from enjoying a drink when I returned to the Jazz Jamboree on the 24th:

Still, the music on offer this night was excellent too, starting off with the Joachim Mencel Trio (loved the hurdy-gurdy tunes):

Then, the Jim Black Trio:

Jim Black's drumming was captivating, can't remember when I've been as riveted by the drumming at a concert.

And finally, there was Ark Noir:

What I liked about this band was that they came across as more of a Prog than Jazz band, with them doing a couple of brilliant 12-15 minute tunes, with one being called (something like) 'Orion's Belt' if my memory serves me right. Prog is probably my favourite music genre so Ark Noir went down a treat.
