Bury (Lancashire): Retracing Some Old Steps

Retracing the old cobbled steps between St. Gabriel's and the Chinese chippy above, and seeing the old school bus stop to Fairfield outside St. Gabriel's below:

Didn't particulary like much of my time at St. Gabriel's (1977-1982) but now view it through some kind of rose-tinted nostalgia.  Don't know why this is the case, some things are difficult to explain.

Youghal (Cork): An Interesting Statue

This statue in the sleepy seaside town of Youghal in county Cork was always going to catch my eye:

Dorchester: Passing The Keep Military Museum

Couple of shots of The Keep Military Museum which I chanced upon while having an early evening stroll round Dorchester:

Just read some very favourable reviews about the museum so I really wish I'd gone inside the place while in Dorchester.

Kerry: Scariff and Deenish Islands Coming into View

During our quick drive round parts of the Ring of Kerry, I saw two islands which looked like dinosaurs coming into view from the distance:

Have just read that these are Scariff and Deenish Islands.  My companions in the car tried spinning me a yarn that they were the Skelligs.

Kerry: Staigue Fort

After visiting Sneem village, we visited Staigue Fort which was only about three miles away:

The place is an incredible achievement of dry-stone wall building, especially considering it is thought to have been built somewhere around the 3rd or 4th century AD:

Below, I'm peering out of one of the cave-type openings built into the fort wall:

Have just read that the fort was built as a defensive stronghold, probably for a local king or lord.

Had to be careful while walking around the top of the wall:

Warsaw: Brilliant Lunch

A brilliant lunch I had midweek in one of the better/healthier fast food places in Arkadia:  courgette topped with vegetables and grilled cheese, cheese and tomato quiche, and plum juice to wash it all down.

Warsaw: Jack-O'-Lanterns

Love these Jack-O-Lanterns that I passed earlier in the week.  The one on the right looks a real character.
