Lublin Castle from the Coach Station

Approaching Lublin coach station here with the 'Church on the Hill' being visible above.

The good thing about Lublin coach station is that Lublin Castle is directly opposite it:

Just read that Lublin Castle dates back to the 12th/13th centuries although it has been rebuilt many times over the years.

Went inside Lublin Castle about 20 years ago, there's a stunning old chapel inside with very old frescoes.

Warsaw: Silver Birch Trees

Always get an eerie, haunting kind of atmosphere passing silver birch trees, think they remind me of the 'Blair Witch Project' (a truly terrifying film):

Can remember seeing the 'Blair Witch Project' in the middle of the day at a cinema in Canterbury, Kent, and feeling fully relieved to get back to the full freshness and sunlight of the outside world after the film.

Eastern Poland: A Snow Carpet

It appeared like a snow carpet in the morning.  It disappeared and re-appeared three more times during the day.

Zamosc Old Town Central Square

Always get a shiver down the spine visiting Zamosc Old Town Rynek (Central Square), such is the beauty of the place, especially the City Hall:

Unsurprisingly, Zamosc Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Hadn't seen Zamosc Old Town for about 10 years, and this was the first time I'd visited it during winter:

Zamosc Old Town is like a small piece of architectural Italy transplanted into eastern Poland.

Hence, it came as no surprise to discover that it was originally designed by an Italian and Pole.

Just love this place and can't really think of a more impressive Central Square I've ever visited anywhere.

Being a bit out of the way in Eastern Poland, Zamosc Old Town also has the charm of not being overwhelmed by foreign tourists.

Blues Pills Live at Warsaw Progresja 2nd March 2017

A few shots from the Blues Pills gig at Warsaw Progresja from last night.

Saw Blues Pills a couple of years ago, and enjoyed them every bit as much last night.

Favourite tunes of the night:  really liked 'Little Sun' and (the Jefferson Airplane classic) 'Somebody To Love', but, for me, the top tune of the night had to be the final encore, 'Gone So Long', it was kind of magical (can't beat a haunting organ sound).

Zamosc: Entering the Old Town

After walking 20 minutes or so from Zamosc bus station, mainly on instinct without any definite directions, I spotted Zamosc Old Town in the distance.

Immediately remembered the church below, I'm not sure if it's still used as a church or not:

Going through the short tunnel to get into Zamosc Old Town

A better shot of the (possibly disused) church mentioned before:

Next up would be the incredible Rynek (Central Square):

Szczebrzeszyn: Watery Fields

Couple of shots capturing the atmosphere as the snow turns into water in the farmers' fields at Szczebrzeszyn (eastern Poland):
