Crippled Black Phoenix (plus A Liquid Landscape) Live at Warsaw Klub Progresja 11th May 2014

Don't usually like gigs on Sunday night due to work beckoning early the next morning.  However, last night was different as I saw Crippled Black Phoenix do a stunning (getting on for 3-hour) set at Warsaw Klub Progresja.  Yes, right from coming on with 'Rise Up and Fight' to the classic 'Burnt Reynolds' singalong near the end (unfortunately, I had to leave right after this, thus missing the encores), Justin Greaves and the band displayed a pure passion and deep enjoyment which was well and truly sensed and appreciated by the audience.

Below, the band are not that far from synthesising with the crowd as their set heads towards the end:

This was the second time I'd seen Crippled Black Phoenix, the first time being when Dave Togher (a good lad from Bury, Lancashire, who I used to go to Castle Donington in the back of a furniture van back in the 1980s) invited me to see them on the guest list when the band played the old Warsaw Klub Progresja in 2012 (Dave was the band's tour bus driver then).

Honourable mention must also go to Dutch support band A Liquid Landscape who played a great one-hour set.  Below, the band are appreciating the crowd's response at the end of their set:

Here, in the picture below, the band's frontman Fons Herder is taking a picture of the crowd:

At the start of their set, the band seemed to be greeted with indifferent silence, but by the end, the crowd were fully won over:  engaging in and loving every minute of it.

Yes, this turned out to be a great Sunday evening in the company of two great bands who both play with passion and fully appreciate/value the people who come to watch them.
