Magnum Live at Manchester Ritz 22nd April 2014
Just back from a great two-week break in north-west England and Southern Ireland, one of the highlights of which was Magnum live at Manchester Ritz on 22nd April.
Last saw Magnum before this at Reading Festival in 1987 so it was good to catch up with the band live after 27 years or so.
Favourite tracks of the night? They would have to be the older ones: 'How Far Jerusalem'; 'Vigilante'; (a barnstorming version of) 'All England's Eyes'; 'Kingdom of Madness'; and the final encore 'Sacred Hour'. Wasn't familiar with most of the newer stuff, including that off the new album, but it all went down a treat.
Bob Catley and Mark Stanway are appreciating the rapturous applause at the end above.
Had to get a picture of the great backdrop below at the end of the gig:
Went to the gig with my good friend Si Cusick (below) who I'd previously seen Magnum with at the Milton Keynes Garden Party bash in 1986 and supporting Krokus at Manchester Apollo in 1982.
Saw Magnum seven times in the 1980s, just glad I managed to catch up with them again a couple of weeks ago.
