Like Rochdale Town Hall (also in Lancashire), I've always thought that Manchester Town Hall wouldn't be out of place in Vienna, because, from every angle, it's an incredibly ornate building.
This last Christmas, it had a surreal-looking Father Christmas added to the front of the building:
