Bulgaria and Romania: Ornate Manhole Covers
A bit of anthropology that possibly goes unnoticed here: just how ornate and eye-catching the manhole covers seem to be in Bulgaria and Romania. The one from Varna above looks a bit worn out round the edges, but the one from Bucharest below looks amazing, especially with the Christian cross symbol at the bottom:
And finally a manhole cover from Constanta in Romania which was a little difficult to make out due to the sand that had blown on top of it:
Was just impressed with how both the Bulgarians and Romanians seemed to take such pride in their manhole covers.
