Thank goodness I'd decided to take an early train from Bolton to Manchester Airport, as we got stuck in the central Manchester skyline for 60-90 minutes due to traffic congestion going into and out of Piccadilly Station. Thankfully, the Manchester skyline was quite picturesque:
The excavation work below definitely looked interesting:
And eventually, the train resumed its merry way, with me being deeply relieved that I'd chosen to catch an earlier train.
Think it's always better to err on the side of caution, especially when travelling to places like airports.
