Walking across to Mutton Island
While in Galway, I went to Salthill for the day where I had a walk across the causeway to Mutton Island:
It was grey, bleak and blustery, and when I got to Mutton Island, a big gate was locked and there were warning signs not to enter the island. Still, I managed to get a bit of a shot of the island's lighthouse:
Have just read that besides the lighthouse, Mutton Island contains a sewage treatment plant, possibly explaining why no permanent residents live on the island. In view of all this, I was surprised to read that the causeway to Mutton Island is popular for wedding proposals.
