Was a bit surprised to walk past this advertisement for ZZ Top playing at the 'Legends of Rock' event at Dolina Charlotty, Słupsk (NW Poland) on July 3rd.
But why was I surprised? Well, a couple of years ago, ZZ Top were booked to headline a night at the Ursynalia Student Festival in Warsaw and pulled out more or less at the last minute, which left a lot of people disappointed and/or with a kind of bad taste in the mouth.
Anyway, I was fortunate enough to see ZZ Top on the 'Eliminator' tour at Manchester Apollo in 1983 and headlining Castle Donington in 1985, where, both times, the band were excellent. Still, I won't be going up to Dolina Charlotty to see them, but may well go to one of the nights of the Ursynalia Festival (at the end of May).
