Instead of going through Westgate Tower, turn left at the Freemasons Museum at the bottom of the High Street, and follow this road round towards Canterbury Castle on the left. If you're lucky and the building developers haven't got there yet, you'll find this beautiful secluded riverside spot on the right. I camped here several times during my early visits to Canterbury in the mid-1990s.
