As luck would have it, we met up with a herd of buffalo on the way to the Great Salt Lake. It was great to see that there were a few hundred of them, not just an isolated few. What was amazing was that we managed to get so close to these fine creatures.
As this picture shows, the buffalo have a dark, mystical, brooding presence, especially the bigger ones. However, these great beasts were mainly interested in getting their daily feed, and were happy to pose for our photos. Of course, we never moved from the safety and security of the car.
When we decided to move on, the buffalo immediately started crossing the road. All along, they'd just been politely waiting for us to get our pictures. However, at the top of a hill nearby, there was a guy with a bike and a crash helmet on. We jokingly asked him if he was going to ride through them.
Awesome pictures Pat. Their dark, mystical, brooding presence really shines through. I would love to see the real wild west or travel along route 66.
ReplyDeleteMe too, Dave, I've got to do route 66 one day, maybe we can do it together one day.
ReplyDeleteYeah lets go for it. Perhaps we'll see some great bands along the way -even Kansas or Blackfoot? I wouldn't mind trying some of the real ales they brew in Utah.
ReplyDeleteThey brew the Real Ale all around the US, Dave, I remember having a couple of really good pints in a 'Saloon Bar' at the side of the Grand Canyon.
