While on Whiddy Island, my well-informed friend, Dave Dealy (below - having trouble with his mobile near Doneen Pier on the mainland), pointed out the Cornish dry stone wall (above), making me aware of how the stones were planted on top of each other with no bonding. Me and Dave did a bit of dry stone walling together many years ago but by the bonding method. Thus, I really admire how Cornish dry stone walls like the one above can stay together for many years without being bonded.
