While on Whiddy Island, my guide and good friend, Dave Dealy, got quite rightly a bit upset at seeing the old schoolhouse being in such a state of disrepair (below):
For Dave, this was a piece of precious history that in the not too distant future would crumble to the ground and disappear from our eyes. Inside the building, a few rows of wooden desks were still there.
