Arriving at the Isle of Portland


Rather stupidly, I chose to walk from Weymouth to Portland (on the main road, not on the Rodwell Trail).  However, after a couple of hours, I was walking over the Ferry Bridge to the island.


After setting up my tent at the back of the youth hostel on the island, I veered right heading towards various Thomas Hardy-related places of interest.  While doing this, I came across the theatre below:


And passed a couple of the island's churches:



Then recognised the name of a village from Hardy's 'The Well-Beloved':
