We arrived in Shaftesbury and were blessed with good weather, so were able to clearly look out into Blackmore Vale, the countryside of Tess' childhood (we were doing parts of the Hardy Way).
We first spotted Blackmore Vale (Tess country) from the beer garden of the Mitre pub:
The Mitre pub very kindly allowed us to recharge the batteries for our mobile phones and cameras while we washed down a couple of excellent pints of Real Ale:
