Visiting Wimborne Minster and the Allendale Centre

After getting our tents set up on the festival campsite, we made our way to the Minster for our first music of the 2018 Wimborne Folk Festival.  As the musicians were preparing at the front of the Minster, we could see just how majestic the place was:

In 'The Hardy Way', Margaret Marande (2015: 62) explains that Wimborne Minster dates back to the early 8th century "when a double monastery for monks and nuns was founded by Cutbergh, sister of King Ina of Wessex".

Inside the Minster, we saw Amy Goddard, who did her 'Remembering Aberfan' song which was, of course, deeply moving:

After Amy Goddard, we saw Louise Jordan perform a few of her songs about incredible women from the 1st World War:

At this point, my friend, Dave, suggested that we went to catch a bit of the live music at the Party at the Paddock, after which we had something to eat, and then caught the evening's entertainment at the Allendale Centre.

Thought that Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman were excellent, really enjoyed the traditional folk songs like 'Child Owlet'.

The Allendale Centre is quite a nice place, it has a bar at the back with decent beer, and this is where I stood watching great music coming from the stage.
