Misiek: My Wife's Parents' Golden Retriever

Nice shot here of Misiek, my wife's parents' golden retriever, keeping still for the camera for once.

Szczebrzeszyn, Poland: Easter Eggs

We saw the giant Easter egg model above somewhere between Warsaw and Lublin on our journey to Szczebrzeszyn.

And in Szczebrzeszyn itself on Holy Saturday, people took their normal-sized (often ornate) eggs in small baskets to the Catholic church to be blessed by the priest:

Warsaw: An Unusual Shop Door

This unusual shop door caught my eye in Warsaw city centre the other day.

As I've said before, it's great when people go out of their way to make a concrete environment more colourful:

Warsaw To Lublin by Car

Above we're crossing the bridge away from Warsaw city centre.

In contrast, below we're stopping at a great place for eating (a converted brickworks, I think) on the way from Warsaw to Lublin:

But, unfortunately, the place was closed as it was over Easter (still credit to Poland for still respecting Easter):

Of course, as usual, we passed through the small town of Ryki, noticeable for its sugar factory (I think?) below:

And its wonderful, steep, red-bricked Gothic church:

And nearer to Lublin (I think?), there was the strangely-shaped church below:

And passing through Lublin, we saw the Orthodox church (hope this place is still open), as usual:

And the great Castle, as usual:

And the big church that I always recognise but know nothing about:

But this building I certainly do recognise, the Perła brewery in Lublin:

Let's just say that if you like your lager to taste like bitter, you'll love Perła Pilsner (a really fine beer).

Warsaw: Eric's New Place

After many years in the city centre, my old mate Eric has moved somewhere to the outskirts of Warsaw.  Still that seems to be a brilliant beacon of light coming into his new classroom.

My Latest Vegetarian Dish

And here we've got my latest vegetarian dish:  a lettuce leaf base with boiled broccoli; carrots; leek; lentils; parsnips; and potatoes; soon to be topped with cottage cheese:

Must admit this went down a treat keeping my middle-aged stomach ticking over nicely.

Warsaw: A Bridge in the Dark

Took this shot walking back from the Torwar after last Friday's Archive concert.  Quite like it when a mobile shot comes out a bit like a distorted watercolour.
