Warsaw: Over the Bridge to the National Stadium

On November 11th, I caught up with the Patriots' Independence Day march at the bridge, going over the river:

I missed all the action at Empik because I'd gone down a parallel road to avoid the initial excitement of the march.

I observed the above all day: police vans waiting around corners, out of view, all over the march route and even beyond. The police van below gave me an idea of what communist times must've been like:

It was good to see that St. Alexander's church didn't need to be protected on Independence Day, as extreme leftist trouble-causers and vandals (KOD; Strajk Kobiet; Antifa; LGBT) were nowhere to be seen:

Back on the bridge, we gradually approached the National Football Stadium:

Finally, we arrived at the stadium, and everything seemed relatively normal:

God - honour - fatherland, I really love this message, it focuses on vital aspects of patriotism and piety that have been lost in today's ugly pop-culture world with its infestation of extreme leftist causes and movements.

Round the side of the National Stadium is where I saw things going pear-shaped for the first time:

I'm not sure what the young patriots were trying to do, but I decided to retreat behind police lines because I didn't fancy any liberally-thrown firework going off in my face. It also looked like the hordes and hordes of police were going to move in to possibly make matters worse.

Warsaw: Start of the Independence Day March

The start of the Patriots' Independence Day march on November 11th was a colourful affair with bright red-and-white national flags everywhere.

Conservative-type politicians gave warnings about the danger posed by extreme leftist movements (Antifa; KOD; Strajk Kobiet; LGBT etc.) that have started sprouting up in big Polish towns/cities due to Western billionaire funding.

The Soviet-built Palace of Culture could be seen in the background, as the people sang patriotic songs and set off on their march:

Warsaw: All Soul's Day

The war memorial of a priest near Warsaw Old Town here is lit up on All Soul's Day from last week.

During the 2nd World War, many Catholic priests fought alongside the Polish people in the trenches and battles. This is one of the reasons why many Polish people have a massive respect for the Catholic Church.

Warsaw: Wonderful Lit-Up Building

During the day, this building, which is near metro Gdański, looks nothing special:

But, as can be seen in both photos here, when lit up at night, it looks incredible:

Warsaw: Ukrainian Artwork

Passed this beautiful Ukrainian artwork while walking under a bridge near metro Gdański recently:

This kind of folk artwork helps to brighten up the whole environment,

which is important during these dark days.

Warsaw Jazz Jamboree 2020

Caught two of the days of the Warsaw Jazz Jamboree at the Stodoła on the 22nd and 24th October.

Really enjoyed The Milo Ensemble on the 22nd, this kind of ethnic/world music, nicely washed down with a couple of pints of beer, offered the perfect respite to the strange situation that we all find ourselves in now.

A wonderful array of talented musicians taking well-earned applause at the end of a fantastic show:

Was disappointed to see that new government restrictions stopped people from enjoying a drink when I returned to the Jazz Jamboree on the 24th:

Still, the music on offer this night was excellent too, starting off with the Joachim Mencel Trio (loved the hurdy-gurdy tunes):

Then, the Jim Black Trio:

Jim Black's drumming was captivating, can't remember when I've been as riveted by the drumming at a concert.

And finally, there was Ark Noir:

What I liked about this band was that they came across as more of a Prog than Jazz band, with them doing a couple of brilliant 12-15 minute tunes, with one being called (something like) 'Orion's Belt' if my memory serves me right. Prog is probably my favourite music genre so Ark Noir went down a treat.

Warsaw: Churches Being Defended from Extreme Leftists

Only a few weeks ago, I would've viewed this as almost impossible, but now Poland has a real problem on its hands as thousands upon thousands of extreme leftists, drunken revellers, bored teenagers without school, and other unproductive elements of society, mainly aged between about 15 and 30, have amalgamated together to try to implement a George Soros-type woke revolution in response to the passing of a new law banning eugenic abortions (a real messy/complicated issue).

Now, there is a situation where Catholic churches have to be defended by brave patriots. In the picture below, the Church of St. Alexander in central Warsaw is being protected by Polish patriots and rings of military-type police:

Below, Polish patriots are defending the Church of the Holy Cross, also in central Warsaw, from a massive leftist mob who are passing by, with the flag of Christ the King greeting the demonic-type mob:

Finally, the picture below shows that the extreme leftist mob are not shy of desecrating church property:

For the first time in my life, I'm seeing extreme mob rule and it isn't pretty.
