An Experimental Meal

This is an experimental meal that I made recently:

I boiled a load of potatoes and vegetables, then added a jar of tomato/bolognese sauce (usually used with pasta), and the resulting meal worked a treat.

Next time, I'll have it with rice, maize, or buckwheat, for sure.

Zwierzyniec: Stations of the Cross

As we approached Zwierzyniec, we saw these wonderful, wooden Stations of the Cross on the trees in the woods/forest:

From a distance, they looked like bird-boxes, so it was a nice surprise to see the Stations of the Cross.

Warsaw: Towards the Bridge to the Old Town

After the fireworks started being let off at the National Football Stadium at the end of the Patriots' Independence Day march last week, I decided to make my way to Warsaw Old Town (rather than returning to the city centre where the march had set off from). This allowed me to see quite a few impressive buildings that I hadn't seen before:

Was nice to catch these buildings at sundown:

Really liked the beautiful church below:

Unfortunately, this church had leftist graffiti at the side and in front of it, but thankfully, not on it.

Of course, I was already familiar with the wonderful Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel and St. Florian the Martyr:

This incredibly beautiful building points the way to the bridge leading to the Old Town.

My Mother's Anniversary

Last Wednesday was my mother's anniversary:

She passed away on the 11th November 2011.

My Miraculous Medal

Was passing St. Anne's church on Krakowskie Przedmieście in central Warsaw late at night recently and met a group of Catholics guarding the church from extreme leftist hooligans and vandals.

I got chatting to my fellow Catholics about all kinds of things, including the recent mass leftist protests, and one of them, an SSPX man, very kindly gave me the miraculous medal (the Medal of Our Lady of Grace) below:

This prompted me to read about where the miraculous medal comes from and the life story of St. Catherine Labouré (well worth a read).

Bikers Going Over the Bridge

My favourite shot from last week's Polish Patriots' march in Warsaw: a group of bikers going over the bridge on their way to the National Football Stadium:

Also like the shot below which shows a young couple wearing coats a bit like from the War years:

Listening To Mass Outside

The picture below shows church doors being unlocked at the end of an old Latin Mass:

Due to Covid restrictions, half the congregation had been locked in to attend Mass, while the other half had had to listen outside which was much better than nothing, of course.

Those locked outside were allowed to receive holy communion through attending a short ceremony afterwards.
