We spent two good days in Stroud, eating in Wetherspoons as ever (a great roasted vegetable pizza), and taking in many interesting-looking buildings:
Love the shape of the pub below:
It reminded me of a wonderful pub that we visited in Dorchester several years ago.
Not sure if the building below is a church or something else, but it was very pleasing to the eye:
Many of the buildings in Stroud seemed to be made of a kind of grey stone, it gave a certain character to the place.
Walking up to Stan's Field, we passed another pub, made from the noble grey stone:
The man who owned Stan's Field said that this pub was good for Real Ale.
And not far from Stan's Field, yet another building of such stone:
And a local Anglican church, of course:
The grey stone buildings definitely gave Stroud a proud aesthetic.
My travelling companion said that Stroud had a noble, working-class character.
