The day after getting back in Warsaw, last Saturday, I went to see AURI at the Palladium:
Truth be known, I was too exhausted for a concert straight after my frenetic trip to England, but the AURI gig soon gave me an uplift:
AURI, of course, are the creation of Nightwish members, Tuomas Holopainen and Troy Donockley, and brilliant vocalist, Johanna Kurkela, and on tour, they were accompanied by several other excellent musicians:
From the Warsaw gig, the song that really started uplifting my soul was Night 13, my favourite AURI tune, as it offers a sense of transcendence beyond growing old (I'm nearly 60).
Every tune in the set was great but the ones that shone out for me were The Valley, the first tune I ever heard by the band; The Duty of Dust; Blakey Ridge (perfect dancing music); and Them Thar Chanterelles (what a crescendo!).
Yeah, really happy that I managed to get out for this massively uplifting gig after a grinding, attritional trip to my native England.
