After visiting Bolton Abbey, I managed to tick another thing off my bucket list: camping on Holcombe Hill, near Ramsbottom, on the outskirts of my hometown, Bury, Lancashire.
In the picture above, my tent is dwarfed by the back of Peel Tower, but it was warm and comfortable, and kept out a storm.
Up on Holcombe Hill, it was very misty but I made myself comfortable through having a couple of cans of pear cider and a few shots of Polish vodka (from Warsaw Airport).
In the morning, I was woken up by an abseiling group at about 7.00 but it was throwing down until about 11.30 when I finally had the chance to take the tent down.
After taking the tent down, I made my way down Holcombe Hill to be greeted by the beautiful church near the Shoulder of Mutton pub:
I'm closing in on 60 and very much enjoyed this little adventure up Holcombe Hill.
