After a two-hour walk to Bury town centre from Shuttleworth, plus a 40-minute bus ride from Bury to Bolton, I arrived at a bleak-looking Bolton train station:
As things happened, luck (or God's grace) was on my side as, despite there being some disruptions due to industrial action, there was a train going up to Windermere which would drop me off at Preston in half an hour's time.
This meant that after leaving the gloom of Bolton train station:
I only missed the opening part of the Old Latin Mass (up to the Sermon) at Our Lady of Victories, the SSPX church in Preston.
