Head to the Hills Festival Kick-Off (1-09-23)

Above, a side-on view of The Slow Readers Club from their headline set at the Head for the Hills Festival (Bury, Lancashire) on September 1st, 2023.

After my first day camping at the Paddock in Shuttleworth, I caught up with a couple of friends, and we made our way down to the Burrs for Day 1 of the Head for the Hills Festival which had a decent line-up:

Below, my friend, Wobbler, stands proudly alongside a pond at Castlecroft on the way to the Burrs Festival site:

The Festival had an atmospheric kick off early afternoon:

Never expected the opening act, Mr Wilson's Second Liners to come out playing on the field (rather than the stage):

It was a nice colourful way to get things started:

Although the price of Ale (and other alcohol) was off-putting:

This was more expensive than the Stonedead Rock Festival at Newark Showground that I'd attended a week beforehand.

This is why, between bands, we ended up crossing the bridge above to get a more reasonable-priced pint at the Brown Cow below:

But every time we re-entered the Head for the Hills Festival, we had our rucksacks checked by a couple of unsmiling, yellow-vested officials, one of whom was wearing a hijab. Found all of this a bit absurd, to be honest.
