Agapei (Eastern Orthodox) Monastery, Romania

Another highlight of our coach tour of Bulgaria; Rumania; and Moldova was visiting Agapei Monastery in Rumania.  Below, the monastery can be seen in the distance, just in front of the tree-covered background:



And inside the flower-covered monastery grounds, it's almost perfect tranquility, with an occasional nun moving around doing gardening work:


Our Polish guide told us that between 300-400 nuns live in the Agapei monastic community.


Didn't get any shots from inside St. Voievozi's church as taking photos isn't allowed there.


Just found out from the Internet that the monastery was built in the 17th century, and that the church has been modified many times since then.


Just find this monastery setting, surrounded by forests, incredibly calm and peaceful.


The nuns don't like being photographed close up so this is obviously best avoided.


While besides being wonderful gardeners, the nuns make incredibly beautiful rugs:
