Gagauzia: Besalma Village
Two of the most enduring images from our recent visit to Besalma village in the Gagauz semi-independent territory in Moldova here: the slow-moving horse-and-cart above, and beautiful streetlamps below:
As expected, there was an Orthodox church at the centre of Besalma village:
Our group of tourists stopped off at Besalma village to visit the National Gagauz Museum of History and Ethnography, but Besalma village itself was well worth a quick look round.
Below, the old well still seemed to be in operation:
And clothes for sale just seemed to be scattered around on the floor:
Would love to know what the thing is below:
Somebody suggested that it might be a dog kennel, but to me it looks too ornate for that, and I guess that it might be some kind of wooden monument:
And the old swimming pool below, I can more confidently guess that this may be a remnant from old Soviet commune times:
And the same goes with the object below which seems to be part of an old rocket:
