Cropredy 2024: Day Three

We moved nicely into the third day at this year's Cropredy through the beautifully mellow music of Hannah Sanders & Ben Savage, with A-Life A-Lie being my favourite tune.

Not long afterwards, things started revving up with The Zac Schulze Gang:

The band have a pulsating rhythm section:

With great guitar work threading its way through it.

Really enjoyed seeing The Zac Schulze Gang for the first time, with Hole In My Pocket being my favourite tune, and got to see them a week later at the New Day Festival in Kent.

After The Zac Schulze Gang, the day returned to a more mellow form with Ranagri:

The male frontman explained that Ranagri was Gaelic for hare, and the band opened their set with a captivating song called The Hare.

The subtle face paint of one of the female members of the band caught my eye:

I wonder if it has any deep significance.

At some point during the third day, possibly after the Village Hall breakfast, we found ourselves gravitating towards the nearby village of Great Bourton:

Of which, All Saints Church, with its welcoming tower, takes centre stage:

With a bit of time on our hands, we had a quick look inside the church:

Before making our way back towards Cropredy:

Back at the Festival site, we took in Focus, who I've seen quite a few times over the past few years, and went for an oggie (a Welsh pastie), the most reasonably priced food inside the Arena:

Lamb and mint was my favourite oggie, although cheese & onion was surprisingly good.

The Cropredy Festival site has a capacity of about 20,000, I think:

Before special guest, of all characters, Jasper Carrot, we were treated to an intriguing set by Eddi Reader and her great band:

Loved the delectable Fairground Attraction (a Fairground Attraction song, of course), with the Robert Burns tunes, Green Grow the Rashes and Charlie Is My Darling, offering a distinct Scottish flavour to the set.

To her credit, Eddi Reader also managed to point some genuinely funny humour towards the pantomime villain figure of Donald Trump, while several other acts just espoused predictable woke dogmas towards him.

Not a massive fan of Jasper Carrot, truth be said, but hats off to him for p*ssing off the wokes in the crowd, as he made fun of left and right alike, not sparing the wokes in his jokes.

Watched the first 30-40 minutes of the Fairport Convention set, during which my friend was accosted by a mad old woman lecturing on (something like) the micro-dynamics of organic pond life, then retired to the tent. It was an early start in the morning, further travels to be had.
