A New Day Festival: Day Two (17-08-2024)

The first band we got to properly see on Day Two of A New Day Festival was Molotov Jukebox:

As can be seen, the Molotov Jukebox set had a colourful, summery feel to it:

With people having much fun in the audience.

And with stunning tunes like Trying and Tread Softly, the band created a wonderful party kind of atmosphere:

Loved the sound of the accordion played well throughout the Molotov Jukebox set.

Was also mightily happy to finally catch Curved Air live:

With Sonja Kristina still having a great voice.

And the band treating us to a great set: Melinda (More or Less); Marie Antoinette; Back Street Luv; Vivaldi etc.

It was like a profound step back in time.

Can still remember an old schoolmate, Henry Portas, introducing me to Curved Air in the 1970s.

And as the headlining act for the second night, the crowd were treated to Hawkwind, with the picture below catching the stage just before the band came on.

Was fantastic to catch up with Hawkwind again after quite some years, the previous time I'd seen them was in 2011 at Manchester Academy 2.

Really enjoyed listening to the old classics like Arrival in Utopia; Assault & Battery/The Golden Void; Levitation; Spirit of the Age; Master of the Universe etc., and like my friend pointed out, the newer material sounded really good too.

First saw Hawkwind at Manchester Apollo on the Sonic Attack tour in 1981 as a 14-year-old schoolboy, catching them numerous times in the 1980s in particular, and never dreamt that I'd still be watching them live in 2024 as a 58-year-old. Massive hats off to Dave Brock, of course.
