After visiting C.S. Lewis' house at The Kilns, a short walk took us to his grave in Holy Trinity Church Cemetery, Headington Quarry, just outside Oxford:
As can be seen above, at the foot of the grave, special messages had been left for Lewis, possibly for him to intercede on people's behalf from Heaven.
It seemed fitting that such a great Christian apologist as Lewis was buried in such a peaceful place:
Have just read that Lewis was buried in November 1963, and that through the influence of close friend, J.R.R. Tolkien (and others), he returned to Anglicanism in 1930 and started attending services at Holy Trinity Church.
Have also just read that Lewis regularly attended the 8am service through a dislike of organ music.
In a few places, I've seen it written that Lewis was High Church Anglican, and my travelling companion seemed to emphasise this through highlighting that he believed in purgatory, a (Roman) Catholic belief, of course.
