Having set up camp in Wool the day before, the next day (12th August), we went to see Chris Isaak at Bournemouth Pavilion:
Of course, Bournemouth, in itself, is an interesting place as its train station and waterfront provide key settings towards the end of Thomas Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles (in Tess' relationships with Angel and Alec):
Although the Big Wheel won't have been around in Hardy's time, of course:
With Chris Isaak, we were treated to a wonderful evening of enchantment, taking in many sultry tunes (Wicked Game; Blue Hotel; Crying Game; Dancin' etc.).
Getting to hear Wicked Game live was a definite tick off my bucket list.
And the Pavilion, with its not too big size, provided a kind of cosy setting for the gig:
Also, with Chris Isaak doing such tunes as Roy Orbison's Pretty Woman and Elvis' Can't Help Falling in Love, I felt that I'd been given a privileged insight into what it would've been like to see Presley, Orbison, Sinatra etc.
Yeah, this was a great evening all round and to cap things off nicely, we managed to catch the delayed 10.20 train back to Wool rather than the last 11.20 train.
