Piggy Lane Pens

Not far behind where St. Bede's Catholic church and social club once stood, in the Fairfield area of Bury, Lancashire, lies what is known as Piggy Lane pens:

Inside the pens (allotment sheds), mainly racing pigeons are kept, and some pigs too (hence the name, Piggy Lane).

Rumour has it that Piggy Lane was part of an old Roman road, but if there's any truth in it, I don't know.

Anyway, it was nice to see that the pens are still standing on Piggy Lane, with Union Jacks and St. George Crosses perched on top of them.

Nothing wrong with a bit of patriotic pride, of course.
