Thomas Hardy's Portland: The Old Hill


From the village of Fortune's Well, I found myself climbing the Old Hill from Hardy's 'The Well-Beloved'.

The Old Hill was certainly steep, but thankfully not quite as steep I'd expected having read in Hardy's novel that it was even difficult for young people to climb.



And when I got to the top of the Old Hill, I was greeted with a wonderful panoramic view of Chesil Beach:
