After visiting Donald Campbell's grave in the cemetery, we took a walk by the lakeside in Coniston.
It was now sunny but mild after a lot of rainfall, perfect weather for taking shots of Coniston Water.
Couldn't help but imagine Donald Campbell accelerating by in Bluebird, as Campbell's name is now synonymous with Coniston Water (due to his tragic death there in 1967, of course).
Have just read that Donald Campbell's father, Malcolm, set a water-speed record on Coniston Water in 1939, and that between 1956 and 1959, Donald set four successive such records.
Back in the early 1990s, with a group of friends, I'd enjoyed going on camping trips to Coniston, pitching up on a campsite within a stone's throw of the Lake.
This time round, I really enjoyed seeing some swans on the Lake:
Swans really do have some kind of magical (or even mystical) elegance/presence:
They suited Coniston Water perfectly.
