Oxford: Some Final Thoughts

We really enjoyed our quick venture into Oxford, especially finding the Thomas Hardy-related St. Barnabas church in the Jericho district of the city, and the Inklings (Tolkien, C.S. Lewis etc.) pub while exiting Jericho and heading back to the city centre.

But still, there were a few things that we didn't do, that I would've liked to have done.

First, it would've been nice to have pierced through the walls of some of the University Colleges that lay scattered around Oxford.

Still, through not doing this (or not being able to do this), I guess that we may claim that we had a kind of Jude the Obscure experience.

But who knows, if we'd stayed longer in Oxford, we may've found the opportunity to go beyond some academic walls.

Second, some of the older pubs looked really enticing:

But at roughly five-pound-fifty a pint, we weren't taking the bait.

We were told that there was a Wetherspoons in Oxford. Unfortunately, we didn't run into it.

And finally, it was a pity that we didn't taste some of the high cultural music on offer:

Such music by candlelight sounds wonderful, something to remember. But I guess it'll have to wait for another time.
