Spotting Hawkshead Methodist Chapel

While strolling between the pubs in Hawkshead village, we spotted the beautiful Methodist church below:

It was almost hidden in a corner, next to some tea-rooms:

Can't remember seeing either the Methodist church or the tea-rooms when I used to visit Hawkshead with an old group of friends from Bury in the early 1990s.

But the Methodist church for sure, has been there for many a year.

Have just discovered that the cottage-type buildings above date back to the 15th century, with the Methodist church building having been converted into a place called Union Chapel by a group of Christians in 1862, and then passed on to the Methodists in 1926.

Have also just read that the Methodist church is usually open during the day for people to pray and reflect on life, and to play an old American harmonium (hand-pumped organ) there if they want to.
