On our walk back to the Abingdon Travel Lodge from Oxford, we passed this nice-looking restaurant:
It had a great position next to the river:
What could be nicer than having a nice meal and beer next to the river?
Not far from the restaurant, we saw an interesting-looking building and gate space:
As can be seen, with a careful eye, the top of the gate space had a thin bar running across which contained awful-looking spikes.
My friend and I guessed whether the still present spikes had once been used to keep people out of the place, or were kind of still present to keep pigeons away.
