Rye: Passing the Old Grammar School

Not long after passing through the Landgate into the top half of Rye, we saw the 17th century, Old Grammar School building above.

The plaque on the wall of the Old Grammar School (below) gave some basic details about the history of the building:

Have  just read that Thomas Peacocke founded the Old Grammar School as a free establishment so that youths could receive a better education and good breeding in Literature. Wish that schools were still founded on such a noble purpose.

While looking at the Old Grammar School, we noticed that the ground floor of the building was now a big-looking record vinyl store.
