Walking up to Rye Parish Church was interesting in itself, as we passed a historical building on the right:
It turned out that the building was some kind of ancient vicarage, and had a kind of macabre connection with Mary Queen of Scots (all explained in the picture below):
Soon afterwards, we found ourselves entering the 'Cathedral of East Sussex':
Then walking around outside it:
The Church Square facing St. Mary's was also impressive:
Not sure when these houses were built exactly, but they put me into some kind of medieval reverie:
I remember doing a Philosophy module called Ethics & The Environment at Bolton Institute of Higher Education (now Bolton University) many years ago, and writing about how such architectural beauty can send serotinin to the brain.
In Thomas Hardy's A Laodicean, Paula Power has such an experience in the medieval quarters of a French city.
