Slovenia: The Two Main Beers


In Slovenia, I found myself drinking what seemed to be the two main beers: Union (above) from the capital, Lubiana (Ljubljana), and Laśko (below) from the Alpine city of Maribor:


Of the two, I definitely prefer Laśko because it has that gentle bitter taste that I adore (when I can find) it in a lager.  In contrast, Union is neither bitter nor sweet, having a kind of neutral taste, which, for me, is better than being sweet-tasting.

Below, I was treating myself to a second glass of Laśko in Piran, as it was 32 degrees Celsius, and I was quite naturally thirsty:
