Visiting Derwent Water


 Our last task in Keswick was to visit Derwent Water.


Have just been reading about how Samuel Taylor Coleridge named one of his sons Derwent who was born in 1800 while the Coleridges were living at Greta Hall in Keswick.

Derwent Water is said to be about three miles long by one mile wide, being surrounded by extensively wooded hills.


There are also woodland path walks around the lake, and people can be boated around the lake to various landing stages.


All in all, this makes Derwent Water a dynamic living place (I vaguely recall visiting the place during childhood).


Having visited Derwent Water, it was time for a couple of pints of a great pale at the Keswick Wetherspoons, with my friend John below:
