Kaprekar's Constant - Cropredy Brasenose Arms (12-08-22)

A few days before, we hadn't known that Kaprekar's Constant were playing at the Brasenose Arms, but a kind man from Manchester pointed us towards it.

So, we ended up seeing this great band at Cropredy, a week before encountering them again at the New Day Festival.

The Brasenose Arms gig was brilliant, it was like watching a band in a big back garden, with many eyes being focused on the legendary David Jackson, of course:

Fantastic musicianship all round, moving storytelling in the songs, and the wonderful intertwining vocals of Dorie Jackson and Bill Jefferson, that's kind of what's so appealing about Kaprekar's Constant.

Also, bassist Nick Jefferson is brilliant explaining the themes and concepts behind songs like White Star's Sunrise and Victorious.

The truly epic Hallsands, about an abandoned Devon village that started slipping into the sea due to human greed, was always going to be my favourite tune of the set, absolutely love it, Prog at its best.

A last word about this gig, the temperature was somewhere in the mid-30s, and the guy in the picture below clearly enjoyed soaking up the sun (as well as the great music):
