While out walking through the Kirklees Nature Reserve in Bury (Lancashire), we ran into Tower Farm which dates back to 1840:
Have just read that the buildings that make up Tower Farm where for the staff who ran the stables for the horses that moved printed merchandise from the old Tottington Mill Print Works to Manchester and Leeds.
Have also just read that two teams of horses were kept: one for Manchester, the other for Leeds, and that they knew their routes so well that the driver could fall asleep.
