While passing the Robin Hood pub in Penrith:
We discovered that a young William Wordsworth (1770-1850) had stayed there between 1794 and 1795, with a friend called Raisley Calvert:
Some quick research on the Internet reveals that Raisley Calvert was a sculptor and admirer of Wordsworth, as they had known each other at Cambridge University.
Moreover, Calvert is known to have bequeathed Wordsworth 900-pound, with Wordsworth having looked after Calvert on his deathbed as he died of consumption (tuberculosis).
